Everyone has heard the phrase “think positive” but if you’re like me thinking positive is sometimes really hard. I hate to admit it but I am naturally a negative person. So controlling my thoughts to make a total 180 to only think positive is really hard for me. So my saying is “talk positively”. Basically whenever my brain had a negative thought I would say out loud the opposite thing. In all honesty, at first, I didn’t believe any of the words coming out of my mouth. I had this internal battle. My mouth was saying something positive but my brain wanted to combat it with negative. This internal battle continued for a good two weeks through this process and then one day my brain started having positive thoughts before I even said them. My brain started thinking of positive things before negative ones. I noticed a physical change too. I felt happier, I felt lighter, I felt more positive all around. Now I don’t want you to think this exercise magically changed me completely. I still have my days where I just can’t get out of my dark cloud of negativity but I find myself not only talking more positively now but also generally thinking more positively.
CHALLENGE: Start talking positively. If you find yourself thinking negative thoughts say the exact opposite thing out loud. Try it. For two weeks and see if you notice a change like I did.
